Top Tips For Putting On Latex:
Step 1: Prep
- Start with clean, dry skin, don’t apply lotions, oils, or creams beforehand.
- Don’t straight out of the shower (damp skin = drag)
- Trim long nails before dressing
- Remove all jewellery
- Take your time, best to no rush the process
Step 2: Applying Dressing Aids/Talc:
Latex needs a friction barrier to slide onto skin. You have two options.
A- Talcum Powder
Sprinkle inside the garment or on your body. Distributes a fine barrier between skin and latex. Leaves some residue — apply in a space where that's okay.
B- Silicone-Based Dressing Aid
Apply a small amount inside the garment, on the skin, or both. Smooth glide, no powder residue. Must be silicone-based — water-based lubricants degrade latex over time.
Step 3 - Putting On The Latex:
There is a few methods to see which works best for you:
- The Rolling Method - This is the technique that separates professional wear from a wrestling match.
- Roll The Garment Inside Out At The Seams - Before stepping in, roll the piece down to its seams, inside-out. This creates a starting point that's easier to work with than a fully extended garment.
- Step In and Unroll Slowly- Unroll up the body, smoothing as you go. Don't yank from the outside. If anything needs repositioning, slide a hand between skin and latex to guide it into place — never pull or stretch from the exterior.
Once the piece is fully on, use flat palms to smooth any trapped air or wrinkles. If something isn't sitting right, don't adjust by pulling — remove the piece and start over. Starting fresh is the safer move every time.
Step 5: Shine Before You Leave:
Latex ships with a matte finish. That signature high-gloss look comes from polishing after dressing.
Apply a latex polish or spray shine to the exterior, then buff with a non-absorbing cloth (the ViviWipe is built for this) or your hands. Wash your hands after shining and before you head out — polish on your fingertips will transfer to everything you touch.
